Taco Bell Beef Copycat
Taco Bell's beef is one of those things I secretly love, it's got a great texture and flavor so let me show you how to recreate it at home, I did a lot of recipe testing to get it perfect!
One of the most surprising parts of Taco Bell's beef is that they use oat flour in their recipe. This helps to ensure that the beef maintains that recognizable texture and helps the beef retain its moisture.
Taco Bell also uses cocoa powder and MSG, which helps to deepen the flavor of their beef. The spice blend I wrote out below is for 1 pound of beef, so you can halve, double, triple, based on the amount of beef you're planning to cook, enjoyyy! ❤️

π§Ύ Ingredients π§Ύ
1 pound 80/20 ground beef
1 tablespoon oat flour
1 tablespoon beef bouillon
1 teaspoon tomato powder
1 teaspoon sugar
2 teaspoons chili powder
1 teaspoon cumin
1.5 teaspoons onion powder
1/2 teaspoon cocoa powder
1/4 teaspoon MSG
1/3 cup water
1 tablespoon oat flour
1 tablespoon beef bouillon
1 teaspoon tomato powder
1 teaspoon sugar
2 teaspoons chili powder
1 teaspoon cumin
1.5 teaspoons onion powder
1/2 teaspoon cocoa powder
1/4 teaspoon MSG
1/3 cup water
Notes: The ingredients above are for 1 pound of meat. You can easily double or triple the recipe depending on how much beef you're making.
π¨π³ Instructions π¨π³
1) In a small mixing bowl, combine the oat flour, beef bouillon, tomato powder, sugar, chili powder, salt, cumin, onion powder, cocoa powder, and MSG. Whisk until evenly combined.
2) In a skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef along with 1/3 cup of water. Break the beef apart with a spatula or spoon until it becomes very fine.
3) When the beef is about halfway cooked and you still see some pink remaining, sprinkle in the spice mixture and stir well so the beef is evenly coated.
4) Continue cooking until the beef is fully cooked and the seasoning has thickened into the meat. The oat flour helps the sauce cling to the beef and creates that classic Taco Bell beef texture.
5) Serve hot in tacos, burritos, tostadas, nachos, or taco bowls.
